Voxan Wattman is world's most powerful electric motorcycle

It would be fair to say that we’re a little bit in love with the Voxan Wattman electric motorbike. There’s just something wonderfully cutting-edge about the design, and that’s before you start peering beneath its chiseled skin.

If you were looking for a motorcycle to make an escape silently across the border and into Switzerland, this is surely the bike to do it on.

Voxan is a French motorcycle firm, which was acquired by Venturi in 2010. The owner of Venturi – one Monsieur Gildo Pallanca Pastor – immediately set about differentiating Voxan from large-scale motorcycle manufacturers by pursuing a vision to build high-end electric bikes.

This three-year plan has matured into the bike you see being presented by Monaco-based Pastor at the Paris Motorcycle Show. And he looks justifiably pleased with his creation.

The man responsible for the Voxan Wattman is Sacha Lakic, a Yugoslavian-born designer who boasts a long and distinguished career with Venturi and Voxan, even before the acquisition in 2010.

Voxan is billing it as ‘the world’s most powerful electric motorcycle’, with 200hp on tap, plus a bucketload of instantaneous torque.

That’s 148lb ft of of superbike-taming torque to be precise. And let’s not forget – because it’s electric every last dollop of twist is available from the outset.

Even if you had no idea what lies beneath the Wattman’s impressive structure, you’d perhaps have an inkling that this isn’t your ordinary superbike. Indeed, Voxan has done away with the standard bike frame and instead replaced it with an ultra-rigid exoskeleton, integrating all the components of the powertrain.

This exoskeleton is – according to the designer Lakic – the Wattman’s ‘signature piece’.

Given that the Voxan Wattman weighs 350kg, its performance figures are truly impressive. It will accelerate to 62mph in 3.4 seconds, hitting 100mph in just under six seconds. Its top speed is a smidgen over 105mph.

Fully charged, Voxan claims the Wattman will offer a range of 180km, or 112 miles. The electricity is stored in a 12.8kWh battery.

When using a fast-charge connector, up to 80% of the Wattman’s charge can be achieved in just 30 minutes. Alternatively, the Wattman can be plugged in to a standard home socket.

The Voxan Wattman is intended for ‘exclusive international clientele seeking innovation’, and will be hand-built to order in France.

So if you consider yourself to be part of the international clientele fraternity, best get Voxan on the blower.

Voxan hasn’t revealed the price of the Wattman, but we suspect if you have to ask, you’ll be in for a shock.

But since when did anything engineered in Monaco come cheap?
