Land Rover has introduced a newly updated Range Rover, featuring tweaked engines, a new head-up display and cruise control designed to maintain speed over off road routes.

The TDV6 engine has been revised to improve economy, which is 8.5 per cent better at 40.9mpg, with emissions of 182g/km. The SDV6 has been improved too, with an increase in power from 292PS to 306PS. Its economy has been improved by seven per cent to 40.4mpg, with emissions of 185g/km.

The most impressive piece of new equipment is called All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) which is effectively a slow-speed cruise control designed to maintain a set speed regardless of the conditions – up and down inclines and over slippery surfaces. It can be set at any speed from 1mph to 19mph.

Another new piece of equipment offered on Range Rover models is a head-up display, which projects information into line of sight, including navigation directions, traffic sign information and speed. The HUD is a £1000 option, while ATPC costs £175.
