Ferrari F12 tries to beat Nissan GT-R’s Nürburgring lap time
Ferrari does lot of its track testing in Maranello at the Fiorano test track, but most of the vehicles also make it at one point to the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Unlike Porsche or Nissan, Ferrari has not so far been very open about its ‘Ring times, but it looks like this could change as recently the 740bhp F12 Berlinetta was spotted on the Nordschleife doing some hot laps for about and hour and a half.
For the whole time the track was reserved for F12 Berlinetta, suggesting that Ferrari is attempting a new record for the fastest front-engined street legal car.
Current top time in this category belongs to Nissan GT-R Nismo with a time of 7:08. Reportedly, the F12 at one point lapped the circuit in 7 minutes and 48 seconds – which is nothing to brag about, but the lap also included 40 seconds of cool-down between T13 and Hatzenbach, suggesting a very similar time to the GT-R Nismo.
The time of or under 7:08 would make F12 also the fastest rear-wheel drive production car around the Nordschleife.
