Dongfeng-PSA to sell imported vehicles in China starting 2015

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, PSA’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor, will take over the vehicle import business currently run by the French automaker’s Asia office.

The move is intended to integrate PSA’s vehicle distribution channels in China, according to Dongfeng Peugeot.

Starting next year, Dongfeng Peugeot will become the distributor for all imported Peugeot and Citroen vehicles. The deal excludes the DS brand.

Dongfeng Peugeot will initially import the Peugeot 4008, Peugeot RCZ, Citroen C4 Aircross and the Citroen C4 Picasso.

Dongfeng PSA dealerships that sell locally produced Peugeot and Citroen vehicles will add the imports to their lineups.

PSA’s other Chinese joint venture, Changan PSA Automobile Co., will continue to handle the DS lineup. That partnership produces the DS in China and also imports some DS models from Europe.

Sales figures for imported Peugeot and Citroen models in China are not available.

In the first nine months, Dongfeng Peugeot delivered 518,488 locally produced Peugeot and Citroen cars, a surge of 30 percent year on year. Changan PSA has yet to disclose sales figures.
