Top 10 auto repair jobs in 2013: brake pad replacement tops list

AutoMD.com released its list of the Top 10 Auto Repair Jobs for 2013. Standard wear and tear jobs dominated, with brake pad replacement coming in at number one. Other cyclical repair jobs, such as alternator, water pump, timing belt and spark plug replacement rounding out the list.

VW works council will pursue labor representation at U.S. plant

Volkswagen’s works council said it would press on with efforts to set up labor representation at the automaker’s U.S plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee after workers there voted against any such step involving the United Auto Workers union (UAW).

Employees at the plant, in a region traditionally hostile to organized labor, on Friday opted to reject representation by the union, whose membership has plummeted 75 percent since 1979 and now stands at just under 400,000.

Peugeot family to vote on PSA’s future on Monday

The Peugeot family, the largest shareholder in PSA/Peugeot-Citroen, will meet on Monday to decide whether to give its blessing to two deals aimed at securing the French carmaker’s future, a source close to the matter said.The family’s consent is needed so PSA can announce, alongside 2013 results on Wednesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a recapitalization deal under which the French state and Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor will both take direct stakes in the group.
