USA Truck files lawsuit in takeover attempt

USA Truck is seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent Knight Transportation’s continued purchase of USA Truck stock in an attempted hostile takeover of the Van Buren-based trucking company.

USA Truck, in a breach of contract lawsuit filed Thursday in Crawford County Circuit Court, claims Knight is using private confidential information acquired during negotiations for the potential sale of USA Truck, in violation of a confidentiality agreement signed in February 2012.

A former employee of an Albany transportation company has pleaded guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud related to a scheme to overcharge the Department of Defense for transportation services, according to Justice Department officials.

Trucking firm owner to be tried in hit-and-run death

A semi-truck driver is heading to trial in the death of Alex Bell, another truck driver struck in a hit-and-run.

Witnesses at the scene more than a year ago said Bell had caught the man siphoning gas from his big rig truck, and in trying to stop him from leaving, was run over.
