collectible cars get a holiday in America

The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 176 (S. Res. 176) designating July 12, 2013 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils.

The date marks the fourth commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. 

North Carolina considers 75 mph speed limit

The proposed DOT study would consider the safety of allowing higher speeds and any effect on automobile insurance rates.

After House members balked last week at approving a Senate bill to make 75 mph the state’s top speed limit, the bill was converted Tuesday to a plan to have the state Department of Transportation study the idea, to see whether it’s safe.

PA, USA bridges “in miserable shape” says Ritzman

With a Sunday deadline for the state budget fast approaching, state Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary for Planning James D. Ritzman told the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce members Wednesday that transportation funding should be a priority for both Republicans and Democrats in Harrisburg.

“This isn’t just a Republican issue. This isn’t just a Democratic issue. Roads and bridges aren’t Republican or Democrat,” Ritzman said Wednesday as the guest speaker for the chamber’s luncheon at Roman Delight in Orwigsburg.

Catalytic converter regulations to be changed in NY

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) held its first meeting on Tuesday, June 18 for parties impacted by the DEC’s decision to delay enforcement until 1/1/14 of a regulation adopting California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards for new aftermarket catalytic converters that were supposed to go into effect June 1, according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA).
