Mitsubishi recalls EV and Outlander plug-in hybrid

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. has formally recalled its i-MiEV electric vehicle in Japan.

Sales and production of the EV minicar, which is also sold as the Peugeot iOn and Citroen C-Zero in Europe, along with the Outlander plug-in hybrid crossover sold only in Japan, have been halted since a manufacturing glitch caused one of their lithium ion battery packs to melt and another to catch fire in March.

Silverstone Classic’s Porsche parade already oversubscribed

The special anniversary parade, dubbed 911 x 911, to mark 50 years of the Porsche 911 at this summer’s Silverstone Classic (26-28 July) has proven so popular that it’s already a complete sell out.

To celebrate its 50th birthday, a massive on-track parade of 911 Porsche 911s is being staged as one of the many highlights at the annual Silverstone Classic. The cavalcade has proved so popular that it has already attracted more than 1000 registrations meaning the organisers now have closed entries.

GM to make door unlock, remote start standard

Locking doors, activating horn and lights and remote start for factory-equipped vehicles are among services General Motors will make standard via smartphone for five years through the OnStar RemoteLink Mobile App.

GM announced the new RemoteLink Key Fob Services program on Wednesday for OnStar-equipped 2014 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac models – even if the owner declines to pay for other OnStar services.

Clean Energy and Covanta open first CNG fueling station

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. and Covanta Energy Corporation hosted opening ceremonies in Newark, N.J. for the first compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station built as part of a nationwide partnership between the two companies to expand the CNG fueling infrastructure across the country.

The new station, built and maintained by Clean Energy onsite at Covanta’s energy-from-waste facility located in Newark, N.J., will supply CNG fuel to refuse trucks serving communities and businesses in Northern New Jersey and New York City.
