Maine governor signs bill to ban fuel with more than 10 percent ethanol

Legislation (LD 453) that prohibits a person from selling or offering for sale petrol that contains corn-based ethanol as an additive at a level greater than 10 percent by volume was signed into law by Maine Gov. Paul LePage, according to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).

Daimler recalls over 6,000 Mercedes A-class hatchbacks

Daimler is recalling more than 6,000 of its new Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchbacks because of problems with the passenger airbag.

Ford engineers are using 3D mapping in what is believed to be the technology’s first application in the auto industry to better analyze rear axle parts of F-Series pickups during assembly, leading to a smoother, quieter ride for drivers of Ford trucks.

Similar to Google Earth, which uses three-dimensional imaging to map the world, Ford’s photogrammetric pattern reader (PPR) uses a pair of digital cameras to combine photos of the axle gears into a series of 3D pictures that are compared against an ideal computer model of the gears. Gears that don’t meet “Built Ford Tough” specifications are discarded.

New Jersey sues six petrol stations for selling aviation fuel to motorists

Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa and the New Jersey division of consumer affairs  announced the division and its office of weights and measures have sued six petrol stations, their parent company and two fuel distribution firms, after the petrol stations allegedly sold aviation fuel, which contains toxic lead, during a three-day period in December, to consumers who thought they were filling their cars with ordinary, unleaded motor fuel.
