Delphi announces Dream Shop Sweepstakes for technicians

Delphi Product & Service Solutions launched its annual Delphi Dream Shop Sweepstakes in the U.S. and Canada. For the grand prize, Delphi will equip one lucky professional automotive technician with Delphi parts, tools, equipment, supplies and training. Hundreds of other prizes will be awarded monthly, weekly and instantly.

The winning technician can use the grand prize to upgrade his existing workspace or build his ultimate Dream Shop. Technicians can register at the dedicated Delphi Dream Shop website (delphidreamshop.com) or, new for 2013, through Delphi’s Facebook page (facebook.com/DelphiAutoParts). The grand prize winner will be introduced this November at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.

Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port factory in UK loses chance to build minivan

General Motors Co. will move production of the Opel/Vauxhall Zafira minivan to Ruesselsheim in Germany from its Bochum factory.

Ruesselsheim and Vauxhall’s plant in Ellesmere Port, England, had been in the running to gain Zafira production after the 50-year-old Bochum plant in Germany’s Ruhr region closes at the end of next year.

Edmunds.com Report: Certified pre-owned cars become more popular

Certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles are more popular than ever, according to a new report from Edmunds.com, the resource for car shopping and automotive information.

The report, which evaluates the landscape of America’s used car market through the first quarter of 2013, found that CPO sales this year are up 6.2 percent over the first three months of 2012, and that the segment’s 21 percent share of all used car sales by franchise dealers in 1Q 2013 was the highest it has ever been.
