Honda to update the vehicle stability assist system software, free of charge

Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (HMC) announced that it will voluntarily recall 43,782 model year 2012-2013 Fit Sport vehicles in the U.S. to update the vehicle stability assist system software, free of charge.

The company said that the vehicle stability assist system on certain 2012-2013 model year Honda Fit Sport vehicles equipped with certain tires may allow yaw rates that exceed certain U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards requirements.

Volkswagen working on a 10-speed dual clutch gearbox and a 134hp per litre diesel

On Friday at the 34th International Vienna Motor Symposium, Volkswagen revealed some of its future products that are currently in development. The most notable are a new high-performance diesel engine delivering 134 hp per litre of displacement and a new 10-speed dual clutch gearbox.

CEO Martin Winterkorn commented that over the medium and long-term different drive system technologies would exist side by side, ranging from internal combustion engines and natural gas systems all the way to hybrids and electric vehicles.

Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive prototype with in-wheel electric motors

Ford and Schaeffler have unveiled a Fiesta-based eWheelDrive research car, powered by independent electric motors in both rear wheels in place of a conventional engine.
