Fiat has low depreciation – shock news

Ok, it is only the Fiat 500, but any Fiat that is rated as one of the Top 10 slowest depreciating cars in the UK is still news.

The findings, from value experts Glass’s Guide and reported by industry magazine Auto Trader, show the trendy city car is seventh best among cars that lose their value the least.

Radio Controlled Minis for the Olympic Hammer

Toy Minis will not be replacing the hammer at the 2012 Olympics, but they will be used to ferry hammers, javelins, discuses and shots from the field to the throwing area, saving time during competition.

Three “Mini Minis” will be deployed and will be operated by Games Makers assigned and trained for this duty. The cars are roughly a quarter scale of the full-sized car and carry the athletic equipment situated inside, accessible through the adapted sunroof. The cars are all blue and feature the same Games livery as the ‘full-size’ official fleet vehicles.

So here’s Renault’s solution. Buy any of its big models, and you get its electric Twizy as well.

Virtual cars help manufacturing process

In the world of car manufacturing, vehicle makers are constantly trying to cut costs while ensuring quality in their end products.

With that in mind, Ford is developing a virtual factory to simulate its manufacturing process in an attempt to cut costs and improve quality in its real plants by creating and analysing computer simulations of vehicle production.

And then there’s the 3D vehicle simulations – imagine seeing your average Fiesta or Focus in front of you, except it’s not there – with the idea being that these virtual prototypes can help evaluate the way parts are put together.

The research by Motors.co.uk showed that fuel costs, surging insurance premiums, badly maintained roads and continuous roadworks are forcing motorists to change their driving habits, reported The Guardian.
