Aggressive drivers – Do they make you angry

One in two motorists no longer enjoy driving according to new research from Continental Tyres – and road rage is a significant factor in that depressing statistic. Continental Tyres produced the report to support its ‘Courtesy Campaign’ to encourage motorists to employ more courteous driving methods. It points out that more courteous driving would not only improve safety and the overall driving experience but would also ease congestion and reduce delays.

BMW expands 3 Series – including 4wd

BMW has introduced an xDrive (4wd) 3 Series, for the first time ever in the UK – and a new 320i hybrid.The xDrive is available initially on the 320i and is powered by the 184 PS 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. It costs £27,400 for the SE model. With the six-speed manual gearbox the 320i xDrive accelerates from zero to 62mph in 7.4 seconds and has pretty respectable fuel consumption and CO2 figures of 41.5mpg and 159g/km. The optional eight-speed automatic transmission improves economy and emissions to 43.5mpg and 152g/km while adding only a tenth of a second to the zero to 62mph time.

Free Nissan cabs in London

To publicise the low fuel costs of the Leaf electric car, Nissan is going to offer free cab rides this weekend.To grab a ride, all a prospective passenger has to do is send a Tweet that incorporates the hashtag ‘#6XCHEAPER’ and their chosen destination. Nissan is also using the activity to gather consumer feedback on a potential taxi of the future.

Goodwood to feature Touring Car Legends

The Goodwood Festival of Speed >will feature historic touring cars from the last 40 years. One of the oldest cars is an Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAM from 1970, and some of the most historic models ever to race will be on show. Our favourite would have to be the 1984 Jaguar XJS. It was Jaguar’s success in “tintop” racing on both sides of the Atlantic that led to the Le-Mans winning XJR-9 of 1988. That was powered by the same XJS engine, possibly the last serious Sports Car racer to be powered by a genuine road car engine.
