French ultra-budget brand Dacia almost here…


Dacia,Renault’s budget brand, is 100 days away from launching in the UK. It’s a timely reminder, given yesterday’s budget, that cheap French motoring is very close at hand.And we do mean cheap: buyers will be able to bag a Duster 4×4 from £12,500. For comparison, the cheapest four-wheel drive version of the Ford Kuga is the 2.0-litre diesel Zetec, at £23,000.We don’t know a lot about Dacia here in the UK, but here’s what a confident Renault press release says:

A birthday party is being held at Coventry Motor Museum for the failed Avantime executive coupé, one of tthe biggest flops in car company history. How strange.

Kids would rather drive a tractor than the Batmobile


A survey by Lego has revealed that more kids dream of driving a tractor, a train or a 4×4 than a supercar…or the Batmobile. The poll of 1,300 kids aged three to ten years old, on Legoland’s Facebook page, showed that 28% wanted to drive a tractor or a train more than anything else, while just 6% chose a supercar – the same percentage that chose the Batmobile.According to these results, being a bus driver is almost twice as cool as being Batman, with 11% saying they’d most like to drive a double decker.

Budget 2012: the car industry’s response
